Waking up to the sound of birds chirping and the sun shining through our tents. Yes… The sun is shining. Ireland is experiencing a heat wave with a temperature of about 70 – 80+. This isn't normal for Ireland at all. We all expected to use our rain coats and rain boots. Hopefully we will get to use them at some point while we are here.
The house we are staying at is owned by a Methodist minister. We are camping in the garden (backyard) of her house. The town we are in is quite small, population is around 2,000. No streetlights or stoplights.
We take showers in a house down the road. In the mornings the Irish people get a glimpse of 13 Americans walking in their pajamas ready to take a shower. A few days ago a man approached us and asked if we were Americans. I didn't think we looked that obvious.
Today was our first day of kids club which is the same as VBS. When we arrived to Dunmanway, Ireland we were told only 8 kids had signed up. Today when everyone checked in we had 24 kids! How awesome that God multiplied the participants in a matter of a few days. We may even get more during the week through word of mouth.
During the kids club we have set time aside for crafts, games, songs, a skit, a bible story, memory verse and we also have juice and biscuits. Our theme this week is Junior Heroes. The topic today was that to be a superhero you have to wear your belt of truth. Each day we will be teaching them different parts of the armor of God and how they can correlate those with being a superhero.
Our time here has been amazing so far and we look forward to what the next few weeks has in store for us. Please keep us in your prayers while we are ministering to the people of Ireland.
